Seventeen-year-old Ari Meyers feels very close to her character (on Kate & Allie) "Emma McArdle," And no wonder - "Emma" is a lot like Ari herself! Both girls live in New York City and have mothers who are divorced and working. Most important, light brown haired Ari is as close to her mother, actress Taro Meyers, as "Emma" is to her Kate & Allie mom, "Kate" (played by Susan Saint James). "My mom has always given me a lot of freedom and a lot of independence," reveals 5' 1" tall Ari, who was born on April 6th, 1969 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. "She never cared whether I was in show business or not - she just said whatever I wanted to do was fine!" Ari's career began at the tender age of five, when she began modelling and appearing in TV commercials. Three years later, she got tired of show business and decided to give it up. But this talented gal quickly changed her mind, and in 1982 she won a role in the flick Author Author!. Three movies followed. And in 1983, hazel eyed Ari was thrilled to learn that she had won the role of "Emma"! When she's not hard at work on the series, Ari (short for Ariadne) keeps herself super busy with fun hobbies like scuba diving, tennis and jewelry making. Going to movies or out to dinner are favorite ways for this fan of TV's Cherrs to spend a weekend evening. Ari has to admit, however, that her absolute number one passion is buying clothes.
